Bell in the Crystal Blue Water

The  bird  excitedly  chirped  as  the  cool  morning  air  blew and  the  sun  was  shining  brightly  even  though  it  had  just  rose  a  few  hours  ago. Bell practically sleepwalked down the carpet-covered stairs. She  sleepily  threw  her  hair  in  a  messy  ponytail  then  made  her  way  towards the  kitchen, where  she  found  her  mother, already  dressed  in  her  work  uniform  reading  the newspaper  with  the  coffee  brewing  on  the  kitchen  table. She  already  had  her  hair  at  the  top of  her  head  in  a  clean, neat  bun  and  her  lips  were  a  deep  shade  of  red. She  turned  her  head  when  she  felt  Bell’s  presence  and  scanned  her  outfit  in  disgust. She muttered  something  incoherently  and  gestured  to  Bell’s  toast. “Eat  this  toast” her  mother  said,  not taking   her  eyes  off  the  newspaper. “Mom, why  don’t  you  ever  cook  something  like pancakes?” Bell  whined. “Isa,  we’ve  been  through  this. Toast  is  healthier, pancakes  make  you fat” she pointed  a  stern  finger  at  Bell’s  frown. “First  of  all, mom  it’s  Bell – not  Isa. And  second, there  is  no  way  I’m  going  to compete  in  that  math  championship  thing, I’m  competing  with the  swimming  team, mother” she  emphasized. Her  mother  glared  at  her  and  leaned  closer. “Bell  if  there’s  any  championship  you’re competing in, it’s  Math” she  stood  from  her  stool, making a loud screech. Bell slumped back in her seat. Frowning, her mother folded her newspaper. “If  I  hear anything about any other championship that’s not Math, I’m going to put you in a boarding school” her  mother  threatened and stomped her way out the house. Bell huffed and threw the apple to the bin and headed to school.
The calm, clear water looks even more beautiful under the lights. Her long ginger hair was soaked and smelled like chlorine. Bell dove to the bottom of the pool, her pale skin even paler under the lights above the pool. As her back touched the pool floor, her eyes squinted, looking to the surface of the pool.  The thump of her heart was beating loudly, as if to echo throughout the pool water. Her legs wriggled around, keeping her underwater, making her feel as if she was a mermaid. She was finally calm, until she felt the tip of her callused fingers touch a soft object. She whipped her head to the right, and that’s when her heart skipped a beat. She could feel her heart drop to the pit of her stomach and it seemed as if she lost all capability of screaming. There, at the bottom of the pool next to her, was her mother. Pale, limp and mouth agape.
Bell’s eyes turned the size of quarters as she sat on her bed, waking up from her terrible nightmare. She chewed on her manicured nails as her mind brought her back to this morning when Coach Malone registered her name in the swimming competition and she agreed right away, not even caring what her mother would say. She cringed at the sight of her fingers that are still wrinkly due to spending too much time in the water and let out a sigh as she realized that the swimming competition is tomorrow yet her mother is still expecting her to join the mathematics competition. She tried to talk about the swimming competition during supper but her mother only gave her short replies, not even paying attention to what she said. When Bell tried to ask why her mother hated swimming so much, she only gave Bell the evil eye and told her to finish her meal.

Bell was a nervous wreck as she stood by the crystal blue water in tight blue spandex. She knew that her mother wouldn’t come, even if she already placed the white envelope on her mother’s bedside table this morning. Her heart skipped a beat as Coach Malone called her name and there she stood by the edge of the pool, readying herself to hop in when her eyes met a pair of familiar confused hazel eyes in the crowd. The neat bun could be easily spotted from afar and that familiar business-outfit and deep shade of red lipstick is hard to miss. As the whistle was blown, the brown eyes were filled with something Bell couldn’t fathom. Was it sadness or happiness? Bell didn’t have time  to  stare  longer  as  she  heard  the  whistle  blown  and  before  her  mind  process  it  all, her  body  was already  in  the  water, swimming  to  the  other  edge. Her  long  legs  easily  brought  her  back  to  the  edge of  the  pool  where  she  hopped  in  and she  was  quickly  lifted  from  the  pool  as  her  teammates  hug  her tight. A chorus of “we won! We won! Thanks to you!” filled her ears as she searched for those brown eyes and the neat bun and red lipstick. As her head  turned,  she  found  those  brown  eyes  beaming with  happiness  and  those  red  lips curved  up  into  a  smile. As  the  figured  neared  closer,  it  hugged  her drenched  body  and  whispered “I’m  so  proud  of  you. You’re  just  like  your  father, you  belong  in  the pool” and  with  that, Bell’s  mind  took  her  back  to  the  times  when  she  could  lay  on  her  father’s  chest and  hear  his  heartbeat  drumming.

War Horse Film Review

“War Horse” is a story that was inspired by the First World War. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg and the cast includes Jeremy Irvine as Albert Narracott, Tom Hiddleston as a charming and kind-hearted British soldier Captain Nicholls, Emily Watson as Rosie Narracott and Peter Mullan as Ted Narracott. The story retells the journey of a brave and noble war horse named Joey, and what makes this movie very unique is that the plot is in an animal’s point of view!
The story is set in Devon, South West England. It is about a special friendship between a boy, Albert Narracott and a horse, Joey. The story is about a horse named Joey who was separated his mother when he was just a foal and was sold at an auction. He was bought by Ted Narracott for thirty guineas, which at the time is facing serious financial problem. Ted came to the auction to buy a plough horse to help him plough his rocky field, but instead he buys Joey which upsets his wife, Rosie. They planned to sell Joey back to the auction but then were stopped by Albert who promised his parents that he will train Joey. After a few months of their beautiful friendship, the war started and it was the time where the Narracotts lost everything and had to sell Joey to the army. Joey was then purchased by Captain Nicholls. This is the start of Joey’s adventure in war. Will Joey and Albert meet again?
The thing that I love the most about this movie is that the music is able to control our emotions. If we pay attention closely, in every certain important scene, there will be music playing whether it’s a heart-pounding music, cheerful music and even sad and slow music that’ll make us emotional. The acting is also magnificent and I think all the actresses and actors in this movie are all blessed with such a wonderful acing talent. They’re acting made this movie much more ‘alive’ and a few scenes are very emotional that it will bring tears to your eyes. And the photography is just brilliant – it captures all the beautiful scenery like the hills and farms and camps. And I absolutely love all the wonderful costumes especially Rosie Narracott’s handmade dresses that was made by Joanna Johnston.

The film is well worth seeing. It will touch your heart and remind you to ‘be careful not to start a war’ as one of the characters in the movie had said. The film also contains a lot of inspirational quotes that we can use to reflect on ourselves. So, what are you waiting for?! Watch it and I guarantee that you’ll fall in love with this incredible movie!

Who is Responsible?

Accidents often occur in toll ways. On the 9th of September, a thirteen year old boy named Dul was driving back from Bogor to Jakarta and murdered six people in that tragic car accident. Dull is obviously under aged and is not allowed to drive because the legal age for driving in Indonesia is 17.

It is argued that Dul is the one who's supposed to be responsible since he was behind the wheel. But knowing that his son is still under aged, Dhani bought his son a car which led him to think that he's allowed to drive the car with/without his parents' supervising him.

Dul also turned off his phone while he was going back from his trip, while we know that the phone is the communication tool between Dul and his father. He ignored his father's calls and didn't send his father a message on his whereabouts.

In this situation, Dhani must be the one who has to take the responsibility since he knows that his son is still under aged yet still buy him a car and he gave his son the privilege to drive without any adults supervising him.

I conclude that we have to be more responsible whenever we're driving because when we're careless we can take lives of innocent people. And we have to be wise to give facilities to children, if they're under aged and we're considering to buy a car then why not wait until they're licensed? That way, we can prevent accidents like this to happen.

"Slip or Trip?"

To the chief of police,
An accident occurred at the Volupides’ residence, we arrived on the scene at 2:00 A.M. on 20th  September 1920. We found Arthur’s body lying on the end of the stairs, on his back, face-up his legs are on the stairs. Queenie stood beside Arthur’s dead body. Queenie mentioned that Arthur slipped on the stairs and fell when he wanted to take another drink, she also mentioned that the paramedics said that the wound on Arthur’s head is his cause of death.

After conducting a further investigation, it seems like what Queenie said did not support the evidence. The first evidence that what Queenie said isn’t true is that when someone trips on the stairs, they will usually try to reach out and grab the nearest thing that they can hold to. But when we focus on the wall, the displays aren’t even misplaced. In fact, they’re still neatly hanged.
Second, when someone who is holding something fragile trips or falls from the stairs, they will try to let go of the object to grab hold onto something. But the glass was still tightly held in Arthur’s hand, and it’s still whole. While when someone is holding something fragile trips or falls, the fragile object usually break.
When someone trips or falls on a carpet-covered stairs, the carpet are usually messed up, but the carpet on the stairs were not messed up and it’s still neat. There are no paramedics present, according to what Queenie had said, she had contacted the paramedics and the paramedics had came over and states Arthur’s cause of death. But there are no paramedics present. Arthur is lying on his back, face up with his legs on the stairs.
When someone falls down from the stairs, their face and body will be facing the ground. Queenie had also informed that while she was going out to the party, Arthur stayed home. Yet, Arthur is wearing a formal attire underneath his robe. Usually, when someone stayed home they wouldn’t be wearing formal attires. And when we arrive, the stove is still on while it is around 1 A.M. Usually, people cook meals at a reasonable time.

Based on our investigations and evidences, we can conclude that Arthur didn’t die because he fell from the stairs. We speculate that Arthur was indeed drunk, and Queenie did went ten minutes before her friends did. But she didn’t found him dead. Earlier, they had an argument, and Arthur was drunk that hour, so he can’t control his actions and words. He upsets Queenie, which caused Queenie to hit him repeatedly with a frying pan, which caused the terrible wound on Arthur’s head. She dragged Arthur’s dead body so it seems like he According to the evidences we got, we can conclude that Queenie should be tried so that we can know whether Queenie lied or not.

Aalten, My Second Home!

The Netherlands is like a second home to me. My friends are probably thinking, 'here we go again, she's talking about The Netherlands again....'.

Aalten is a village in the eastern Netherlands. It's very different with Amsterdam since Amsterdam is the 'big' city while Aalten is the 'village'. But anyways, I think Aalten is a good place to live. It's not really crowded, yet it's also not too quiet. The houses in Amsterdam were different, with the houses in Aalten. The houses in Aalten are much bigger (but some are also small), while the houses in Amsterdam are mostly apartments and smaller.

Aalten is very close to Germany. When I stayed in Aalten, I usually stayed in my mother's host family's house. And when I sit in the living room, I can see the windmills that were placed in Germany. Me and my 'oma' as I call her, usually shops for groceris in a town in Germany, Bocholt. Mostly people there uses bicycle as their main transportation.

Through The Rain by Mariah Carey

Let's just say Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey are two talented singers. They're both my favorites. This is currently one of my favorite songs, it's called THROUGH THE RAIN. This song is about someone who's having a hard time in life at the moment. When she wrote this, Mariah was struggling in her personal life. This song inspired me to be strong and walk through the rain (rain : problems).

When you get caught in the rain with no where to run
When you're distraught and in pain without anyone
When you keep crying out to be saved
But nobody comes and you feel so far away
That you just can't find your way home
You can get there alone
It's okay, what you say is
I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I'm strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain
And if you keep falling down don't you dare give in
You will arise safe and sound, so keep pressing on steadfastly
And you'll find what you need to prevail
What you say is

I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I'm strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain

And when the rain blows, as shadows grow close don't be afraid
There's nothing you can't face
And should they tell you you'll never pull through
Don't hesitate, stand tall and say

I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I'm strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain

I can make it through the rain
And I live once again
And I live one more day
And I can make it through the rain
(Yes you can)
You will make it through the rain

"Cat by day. Recording artist by night."

It's hard not to love her character as Cat Valentine in Victorious! Especially with her cute high pitched voice and unique personality!
Everyone, say hello to ARIANA GRANDE! Some of you might know her from Victorious, that weird (but adorable) red-haired girl who is also known as Tori Vega's best friend. Ariana is a singer and lyricist who was born in Boca Raton, Florida. She moved to Los Angeles when she received the tole of Cat Valentine. Ariana has a love for fauna and owns a dog.
She attended Pine Crest School in Boca, and is hyperactive. She's best friends with her co-star from Victorious, Elizabeth Gillies. When she was 13, Ariana performed on Broadway. Ariana is a natural brunette, but dyed her hair red because all the casts were brunettes. And the director didn't want everyone to have brown hair.
Ariana has an older brother named Frankie James Grande who is eleven years older than her. He's a performer and producer, and he went on tour with her as one of her dancers.
She's half Italian, half American. Her mother's name is Joan Grande and her father's name is Edward Butera.

Ariana has released her album, it's called 'Yours Truly. She has been working on this album for three years! My favorite song from her album at the moment is 'Right There feat. Big Sean' because her voice is just amazing.

"Plant love, grow peace" - Ariana Grande

By the way, here's the link to the music video for Baby I, she's amazing!!!
